Its got everything the command stations do, and I would bet the same exact board. The Proteus 2500 is a Command Station, as much as the MP-7, PX-7 and XL-7, just with yet another ROM (the Composer one, as found in the Proteus 2000 but with differents patches). All share the same Operating System and software, can accommodate up tu 4 SIMM ROM so basically you can have all units in one. Just pick your colour scheme.

Great unit, esp. The very smart sequencer, UI and control surface capabilities. Integration between the Proteus sound engine and the sequencer could have been better though, no SysEx recording, no onboard storage (only flashRAM, which will not last for ever obviously), useless USB, poor E-Loader PC only pattern manager. Is a great help to edit patches though. Thanks for that Proteum link, poumtschak!
Too bad it's PC only. But if you have a Mac, you can edit the E-mu line with MOTU UniSyn. However, on the command stations I think the big LCD and logical organization and all the knobs make editing directly with the hardware okey dokey. I have the Proteus Pop Collection ROM in my MP-7.
It's the same one that's in the Proteus 2500. They are the same samples as the Proteus 2000 Composer ROM but reworked into new patches with better sound quality and taking advantage of the command station features. It's a really good bread and butter ROM. Very weak on guitars, but otherwise covers all the bases well. I have a P-2500 along with an XL-7 Command Station. The P2500 and the Command Stations have better D/A converters than the P2000 line which gives them a better sound. The bad thing about the P-2500 is that it sits in the rack where the buttons and sequencing features are out of reach.
They are big, bulky, and have sharp corners that make the P-2500 less desirable to move around than the other Command Stations. I have considered selling mine a few times or trading for an MP7 or PK7 but if I do that I would have to find the Composer ROM.
Right now my P-2500 has the two ROMs form the Orbit-3 and the Mo-Phatt ROM. I think another reason the P-2500 did not sell well is its sound set. Present Perfect Yet And Already Pdf. [QUOTE=Rabid;21916447]I have a P-2500 along with an XL-7 Command Station.
